You can listen to the conversations of those you are following and, just as importantly, you can listen to what others (including your customers) are saying about you, your company and your products and services.
Twitter has emerged out as a major platform for creating a brand awareness. Recently Frooti launched its new TVC commercial via twitter and it received an overwhelming response from its fans. Initially it launched a teaser #SRKLovesFrooti and very soon it started trending in India. Thousands of people started using this teaser and as soon as the team Frooti realized the hidden potential of this trend, it launched its beautiful TV commercial quietly thus making people go crazy over it. This is what exactly Twitter do. Brand can get a fabulous response just by executing intelligent steps.Mango Frooti - TVC Commercial

Facebook - A brief!
Internet - My passion since I first came across it in the year 2001. Every time I was able to dial up my broadband, I used to get connected to the net and the first page which I try to get into was www.rediff.com. Oh my god ! What amazing days were those ? Very few sites to linger upon yet it was so much of fun. Time passed and I , of course along with all of you :D , witnessed the era of Orkut. The complete day was spent on sending scraps and the toughest competition was to increase the no. of scraps with respect to our own friends and siblings. Gradually , Facebook came and Orkut gone. Everywhere we have started hearing one word of interest - Facebook, Facebook and Facebook. Nothing else.
For common people like us , for celebrities , for businesses , Facebook was coming up as a best platform to showcase. And with the time, it does created its own place.Cheers to it ! :) With the exclusive features of photo tagging , sharing , posting updates , Ads , and most important generating LIKES , Facebook turned as a must platform for every business to generate more revenues. The reason why I have written 'must' rather than 'best; is because business flourish mostly when millions of customers can get info about it and nothing could be better than Facebook to showcase your products in front of millions !
Last year on 30th March, Facebook rolled down some exciting features like beautiful cover images , custom tabs and most important THE TIMELINE ! Woww. What an amazing invention. Days passed and brands started coming up in their new avatars, Trendy cover images , highlighted custom tabs and time wise timeline.
You like a photo , your friends would see it and may like it too . You share an update, your friends would come across it and may share it too thus taking your tales amongst their friends.News Feeds, Facebook ads, groups ,communities , are again some excellent features with a good take!
To be continued ........

Social Media - Should it be a nightmare for Indian Government ?
Decades ago social networking meant Gossips and discussion at Village choupals , Mela's and Fairs. People came together , discussed , gossiped and went away. All the consultations and planning were held there but now with the advent of modern technology and increasing awareness the mode of discussions have faced a drastic change.Initially it was difficult to bring your ideas amongst 200 people but now an average person has around 300 friends on its social networking website i.e Facebook and it is really interesting to know that to bring a simple idea among 300 of them just ...update your status and you will get all the approvals and disapproval within a span of 24 hours.
Nothing have changed in these years..only the way to communicate has changed. The barriers to express your opinions to large audience has reduced significantly.People now have a proper platform to express themselves , to raise their voice against anti social issues and to get themselves heard. They are just a click away from various social , economical and political discussions. They can discuss openly everything which signifies their Freedom which is their birth right.
Social networking is an e-platform where everyone has right to discuss and express their views. On this platform, if someone comes across something that is unproven or against facts , then they have the freedom to deny it or reject it by counter analysis.
Pity on our government who is in favor of restricting these world famous media. What could be a better platform to hear the voice of its own people? Rather I must say that India, the world's largest democracy ,should feel empowered with these public platforms. The Government should utilize this media to know the opinions of its very own public. It should focus more and more to run their campaigns , to know the public opinions on them and to do the necessary amendments desired by the public.
Every coin has two faces and same is with social media. But the strategy should be to focus on the positive points rather than empowering the negative points. Banning is not a solution to everything. Once the government can restrict the social media sites but "CAN THEY RESTRICT THE VOICE OF AN "AAM AADMI" ??

Marketing is creating Artificial Needs !!
Marketing Sector is the strongest and most dynamic pillar of every company. As we know that the main aim of every company is to capture the market, whether it is a software company, a toy company, food chain, or a health care organization. These various organizations knows all the needs of the consumer whether stated need, real need, delight need or most vibrant amongst all; the secret need.
Gone are those days when people only demand for ‘Roti, Kapda and Maakan’ (food, clothes & shelter).
Now, they need ‘roti’ but will demand for ‘tandoori roti’ instead.
They need clothes but they will demand for the branded and fashionable ones.
They need shelter but their secret desire is to own a flat of some branded real estate organization like Omaxe etc.
Do you think that this transformation of thought is somewhere hidden from these rulers of the market??? No… Not at all! Rather these producers are trying their best to attract the general public by providing them lucrative offers and capturing their minds.
Consider the example of Lakme, the most dominating, skin care company made Katrina Kaif as its brand ambassador. She is always singing the saga of Lakme soaps and products in the T.V. commercials. And as usual the innocent consumers are driven towards the smooth, shiny skin and soft healthy hairs thus forgetting the fact that she is a celebrity and use hundreds of other beautification techniques and treatments rather than that Lakme soap only.
Let’s move to another example of frozen foods. We have noticed these readymade pasteurized frozen snacks dumped in those refrigerators of Big Bazaar or other retail outlets. We all find them too fresh and tasty on those T.V. commercials and long to buy them but later we realize that though these readymade foods saves our time, yet, it does not have that delicious taste as in the homemade food.
It’s all about the marketing of the various products that rules the minds as well as the pockets of the consumers. This marketing always smells the basic needs of the customer and transforms it to basic plus artificial needs. Marketing of a product is nowadays done in such a way that the consumers not only demand for the product which is a necessity for them, instead they are made to buy things which might not be their need but just for the sake that it appears to be.
Overall, if consumer needs drive them to the market and make producers to come out with something they need, then on the other hand these producers also come out with products and market them so well that consumers are moved to buy them. Hence, Marketing is creating Artificial Needs.
Celebrities and Brands
Brands are about promises and trust. Consumers always trust a brand that has credibility. Now when a company chooses a brand endorser, they mostly consider a potential prospect, existing costumer or a celebrity. CELEBRITY??Yes, a celebrity is chosen to provide an inspirational value to a brand and in a country like India, Celebrities are God. People believe people who can be recognized easily. But the question here is, how relatable and believable the use of celebrity can be??
Imagine the movie ‘3 Idiots’ with high achieving professionals like Rohit Bal, Sanjeev Kapoor and Javed Habib. Would it be still the same for you? Would it have the same reach? We know that all the above three professionals are legends in their own field and may have done well for the brands they endorse. But when you have to reach a large cross section of mass India, that’s not so homogenous, who would you rather put your money in?
It always take a well known face to lift your scripts and give it a mass acceptance.India- loves new ideas but only when it comes with familiar face. A face which can woe her and make her feel close to her heart.
In the end it’s not so much about celebrities like film stars, cricketers or common man. It’s all about entertainment, learning and the role that brands play in our lives. If the brand connects with me, enlightens me and captures my mind, then that’s all it matters.
